SSR based molecular characterization of brinjal (Solanum melongena) genotypes for quantitative traits

The study aimed to evaluate the genetic diversity of eight brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) genotypes including wild species and develop a molecular profile using 14 SSR primers. value similarity matrix ranged from 0.12–0.87. Dendrogram image is revealing relationship among brinjal. super cluster divided into two clusters A B at Jaccard’s coefficient 0.31. Cluster again divide sub A1 A2 0.45. contain three A1i (SMB-115), ii (BARI), iii (Pant Rituraj) only one genotype (Pusa Upkar) 0.88. in B1 B2 0.70. B1i Samrat), B1ii (PB-6) also i (PB-101) B2ii (S. gilo) Genotype 1 (SMB-115) 6 were most diverse all indicating that cross between SMB-115 PB-101 has potential give more heterotic hybrids due their highly nature. results revealed these microsatellite markers could be used as successful tool differentiate makeup crop
